Phil Juravel is the owner of Juravel & Company, LLC.

Phil was a member of the CPA Advisory Board for Paychex, a national payroll company. Paychex established CPA Advisory Boards in 3 cities around the country to help them understand what CPAs need for their clients and to help them with new products and offerings. Phil is also a member of a local financial planning firm’s advisory board.

Phil was also member of the AICPA/CICA Privacy Task Force responsible for the development and implementation of privacy standards for all CPAs in the US and Chartered Accountants in Canada. He was one of the members of the taskforce that wrote “Building a Privacy Practice in Small and Medium-Sized CPA Firms” that was published by the AICPA and CICA in 2006. As a member of the taskforce, he also wrote an article for the “Practicing CPA” that was published in their September/October issue. On behalf of the Privacy Taskforce, Phil spoke at the North Carolina Association of CPAs 69th Annual Symposium on how businesses can prevent identity theft and what they should do after a security breach.

Phil was a former member of the MAP Committee (Management of an Accounting Practice) for the AICPA and part of the Small Firm Advocates with the MAP Committee. As a member of the committee, Phil was part of the team that did presentations for the State Societies of CPAs on the Firm of the Future and how to increase profitability.

Phil began his career in the logging industry and land development business in Saratoga Springs, NY. This experience, along with time spent working at his family’s restaurant, gives Phil an excellent background in small business development, making him especially sensitive to the needs and concerns of business entrepreneurs, both large and small.

Originally licensed as a CPA in New York, Phil worked for Urbach, Kahn & Werlin (UKW), one of the 30 largest accounting firms in the United States before moving to Georgia. While at UKW, Phil worked with some of their largest General Contractors and developers, manufacturers and other retail businesses.

Phil has been a speaker at the CCH Users Conference on several occasions and most currently the 2011 Conference in San Antonio.  He has also participated on numerous webinars for CCH demonstrating how his firm uses their suite of products.

Phil holds a BS degree in Forestry from the College of Environmental Science and Forestry, Syracuse, NY as well as an Accounting Certificate from Siena College in Loudonville, NY.
